Michael T. Hannafan (mth@hannafanlaw.com) is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (Fellowship is by invitation only following a detailed investigation of skills, experience, and ethics; limited to no more than 1% of the total lawyer population of any state). Again, Mr. Hannafan was selected by his peers as an Illinois Super Lawyer in the General Litigation category.  (Only 5% of all Illinois attorneys are selected as Super Lawyers.)  For more than ten years, Mr. Hannafan was again chosen by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the specialties of Business Litigation and Commercial Litigation.  Mr. Hannafan also has been an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy for Northwestern University's School of Law. The School of Law at Washington University selected Mr. Hannafan to receive the Distinguished Law Alumni Award in 2007.  After graduating with honors from Washington University (St. Louis) School of Law in 1970, Mr. Hannafan joined the prestigious Chicago law firm of Kirkland & Ellis, where he honed his litigation and trial skills under the mentorship of nationally known attorneys. Blake T. Hannafan (bth@hannafanlaw.com) joined Hannafan & Hannafan, Ltd., formerly known as Michael T. Hannafan & Associates, in June 2002. He was named a principal of the firm in July 2006. Again in 2011, Mr. Hannafan was selected by his peers as an Illinois Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers' publication.  From 1998-2002, Mr. Hannafan was an associate in the Litigation Department of Winston & Strawn. He has substantial antitrust, contract, patent, and pharmaceutical experience and has tried nine cases to decision. Mr. Hannafan holds a BA degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and received his J.D. with Order of the Coif honors from Washington University School of Law. Mr. Hannafan has argued before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Illinois Appellate Court.  Additionally, he is a member of the U.S. District Court's Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois. James A. McGuinness (jam@hannafanlaw.com) joined Hannafan & Hannafan, Ltd. in August, 2009 as an associate after having worked for Inman & Fitzgibbons in Chicago and Zizik, Powers, O'Connell, Spaulding & Lamontagne in Boston.  Mr. McGuinness is licensed in both the states of Massachusetts and Illinois as well as the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.  Recently, he was second chair in the successful prosecution of an insurance coverage case on behalf of plaintiffs Jerald and Meryl Goldfarb.  He holds his Juris Doctor from Boston College School of Law where he competed in the national civil rights moot court competition and was a finalist in the BC Law mock trial competition.  Mr. McGuinness holds a B.A. degree in English literature from Bowdoin College.  In addition, he studied English and Irish literature and history at the National University of Ireland at Galway.  Mr. McGuinness was recently named to the Irish Legal 100, a list of leading Irish lawyers in the country, by the Irish Voice publication.  Click here to view Mr. McGuinness' professional history.
Stacey B.
